What's new

A running, dated record of what we've shipped across the Tekivex tools and products.

Two new guides: deleted PDF pages, and what merging keeps

  • Fixed — JPG to PDF kept each photo’s EXIF details, including the camera model and GPS position, inside the PDF. It now removes the EXIF, XMP and IPTC records before embedding the photo; the picture data and colour profile are unchanged. A test with a photo carrying a GPS position is published.
  • Improved — Added a Sources section and an image to eight guides that had neither: the three Quantum Vault guides, the two Tekivex UI guides, the two company overviews and PDF to JPG. Sources are the NIST, IETF and W3C standards the guides rely on and the licence listed on npm for each package; the images are screenshots of the live tools and documentation, or diagrams of the steps each guide describes.
  • Improved — Added screenshots to the six GridStorm guides and to the Rotate PDF and Delete PDF Pages guides, taken from the live demos, documentation and tools.
  • Improved — Added images to the last three guides without one: a diagram of the shared-resources test file, a chart of what Tekivex and pypdf kept in each operation drawn from the published results, and a screenshot of the Tekivex UI comparison page.
  • Improved — The eight PDF guides that linked to no outside source now list the libraries behind the tools and tests (pdf-lib, pypdf, PDF.js), with versions and licences.
  • Fixed — The PDF to JPG tool page said it used the browser’s own PDF renderer. It uses PDF.js, Mozilla’s open-source renderer, running in the browser.
  • New — Published a guide on whether a deleted PDF page is really gone, based on a test where an image from a deleted page stayed in the file after every pypdf method tried. The results and script are published with it.
  • New — Published a side-by-side record of the bookmarks, jump links and form fields Tekivex and pypdf keep when merging, splitting, deleting and rotating the same test file.

Test results on every tool page

  • Improved — Every tool page now has a “What we tested” section with the measured results from running the tool on published sample files, links to those files and raw results, and a link to the full guide.
  • Improved — The PDF to JPG, Rotate PDF and Remove Pages tools now link to their step-by-step guides.
  • Improved — The Tekivex UI product page links its getting-started guide, component reference and PDF primitives reference, and the DataFlow product page links its overview.

New guide: why phone photos turn sideways in PDFs

  • New — Published a guide on why portrait phone photos come out sideways in PDFs, based on a test of all eight orientation values with three converters. The test photos, results and script are published with it.
  • Improved — Guides drafted with an AI assistant are now credited to the Tekivex team rather than a named person, and say how they were made. The editorial policy explains this.

Real data and checked limits in the last three guides

  • Fixed — Compress PDF no longer downloads a result that is larger than the original. It says so and offers the larger file only if you ask. In our test, an 8 KB text-only PDF became 50 to 110 KB.
  • Fixed — CSV to Chart now uses the first column for labels when every column is numeric. Before, a numeric column with a few missing values could be picked as the labels instead of Year.
  • Improved — The Compress PDF guide lists the attachment limits Gmail, Outlook.com, Yahoo Mail and iCloud Mail state on their own help pages, with links, and measures what happens to a text-only PDF.
  • Improved — The CSV to Chart guide adds a worked example with NASA’s GISTEMP global temperature record, including the title-line and missing-value problems real downloads have.
  • Improved — The privacy guide explains how to check for uploads in your browser’s network panel and publishes the request log from a test on the live Merge PDF page.

Sourced comparisons, tested tools and fewer ads

  • Fixed — Rewrote the GridStorm and AG Grid comparison table so every statement about AG Grid links to AG Grid’s own documentation, and removed unmeasured size and accessibility claims.
  • Improved — Ads now appear only on reader guides an editor has approved. Product pages, tools and documentation carry none.
  • Fixed — JPG to PDF now reads the orientation tag phones store with portrait photos, so they no longer come out as sideways pages. The photo is placed upright without being re-compressed.
  • Fixed — Split PDF and Delete PDF Pages no longer leave an image from a removed page embedded in the output when the source file shares one resource list across pages.
  • Fixed — The PDF tools now say a file is encrypted rather than password-protected, because files that open without a password but restrict editing are rejected too.
  • Improved — The merge, split, delete, rotate, JPG to PDF and PDF to JPG guides now report what we tested on published sample files, including what each tool keeps and drops. The merge guide no longer claims that compressing after merging deduplicates fonts and images.
  • Fixed — GridStorm plugin documentation no longer says some plugins need a paid licence. Every GridStorm plugin is free, including for commercial use.
  • Improved — Search engines now index only Tekivex UI pages with real documentation, not unfinished component stubs, and one page for the DataFlow demos instead of six identical copies.
  • Fixed — Tekivex UI accessibility statements now match across the site: components are self-tested against WCAG 2.1 AAA criteria, and an independent audit has not been completed yet.

Documentation-first indexing

  • Improved — The Tekivex UI sitemap now lists its 151 full documentation pages (components, recipes, blueprints) instead of 27 short landing screens, which are no longer indexed.
  • Improved — The GridStorm documentation index now summarises every guide and reference page, grouped by section. The interactive playground and example apps stay available but are no longer indexed as articles.
  • Fixed — Removed advertising from the Tekivex UI documentation screens. Ads now appear only on long-form guides.

Measured examples and readable GridStorm docs

  • New — Published the GridStorm documentation as plain, readable pages under /gridstorm/docs, with working links between guides.
  • Improved — The Compress PDF guide now includes a downloadable sample PDF and its measured results at each compression level.
  • Improved — Rewrote the GridStorm virtual-scrolling and AG Grid comparison guides with dated, sourced evaluation criteria.
  • Fixed — Charts shared from CSV to Chart no longer send their data to analytics in the page URL.

One domain for every product

  • Improved — Tekivex UI, GridStorm, Analytics Studio and DataFlow are now served from www.tekivex.com under their own paths instead of separate subdomains.
  • New — Added an editorial policy page, an expanded FAQ and a categorised contact page.

Accessibility and crawlable pages

  • New — Published an accessibility statement and added a skip link, a single main landmark and visible focus styles.
  • Improved — About, FAQ, legal and contact pages are now fully server-rendered, so they read correctly without JavaScript.
  • Fixed — Corrected the cookie banner role and reading order for screen readers, and removed a duplicate page heading.

Author profiles and a readable theme

  • New — Added author profile pages linking each guide to the person who wrote it.
  • Fixed — Every page is now readable in both light and dark themes.
  • Improved — Expanded the PDF and CSV guides with more worked detail.

Three more PDF tools

  • New — Added PDF to JPG, Rotate PDF and Remove Pages tools, each with a step-by-step guide. Files stay in your browser.

Free in-browser tools

  • New — Launched the Tools hub with five free tools that run entirely in your browser — files are never uploaded: Merge PDF, Split PDF, JPG to PDF, Compress PDF, and CSV to Chart.
  • New — CSV to Chart renders bar, line, area, and donut charts with a colour-blind-safe palette, exports to SVG or PNG, and now produces shareable links that carry the data in the URL — nothing is sent to a server.
  • Improved — Compress PDF shows the real before/after file size and tells you when a PDF cannot be made smaller, instead of silently returning a bigger file.

Accurate product catalogue

  • Improved — Every product page now points at the real, published package or the live hosted app: GridStorm (npm gridstorm), Tekivex UI (npm tekivex-ui), and Quantum Vault (npm @sigvault/sdk).
  • New — Restored Pyntra, Analytics Studio, and DataFlow as hosted web apps you can open and use directly, each with a Launch link — no install required.
  • Fixed — Corrected the Quantum Vault documentation to describe its actual cryptography (ML-DSA-87 / FIPS 204 signatures with XChaCha20-Poly1305), and gave every guide an honest publication date.

Guides & use cases

  • New — Published the Use Cases hub with in-depth engineering guides across GridStorm, Tekivex UI, and Quantum Vault.
  • Improved — Added full server-rendered content and structured data across the site so pages are readable without JavaScript.
