Honest comparison

Most “X vs Y” pages are marketing. This one is written under the same honesty policy as our accessibility page: every number comes from a primary source (npm registry/downloads API, GitHub API, bundlephobia, official docs and pricing pages), collected 2026-08-10, and we lead with where we lose.

Component counts are each library’s own docs index and are not a quality metric — MUI’s 62 includes utilities, our 116 includes small primitives.

  • Trust and track record. They have years of production edge cases, huge communities, Stack Overflow depth, and hiring familiarity. We have none of that yet.
  • Accessibility pedigree. Our APG audit was internal — adversarially verified and fully fixed, but internal. React Aria is maintained by Adobe’s accessibility team and tested against VoiceOver/NVDA/JAWS/TalkBack; it is the benchmark our keyboard models chase, not a peer we’ve matched.
  • Ecosystem depth. MUI X’s commercial Data Grid, Mantine’s satellite packages, Ant Design’s free Pro layer, shadcn’s template economy — each goes deeper in its specialty than our equivalent.
  • Scale of testing. Ant Design enforces 100% line coverage; our 2,168 tests are genuine but jsdom-only — no cross-browser grid or screen-reader lab yet.

We verified each of these against the market before claiming it:

  1. A shipped security kernel — no mainstream equivalent found. URL sanitisation, Trojan-Source/homoglyph defence, PII scrubbing, and a Trusted Types installer run at the prop boundary, backed by a published threat model and CycloneDX SBOM. Elsewhere these exist only as app-level guides or standalone CI tools — never inside the component library. No competitor on this page publishes a threat model or SBOM.
  2. The India-first form suite — unique as an integrated suite. Validated PAN / Voter ID / driving-licence inputs and a PIN-code cascading address (Country → State → District → Sub-district). The pieces exist as scattered npm utilities; no kit ships them as polished components.
  3. Zero runtime dependencies. The smallest possible supply-chain surface — against 12 (MUI), 48 (antd), 7 (Chakra), 5 (Mantine).
  4. Honest accounting. We published our own failed accessibility audit — 35 confirmed APG violations — then fixed all 35 with regression tests and kept the original findings public. We believe we’re the only styled kit on this page that has done that.
  5. One versioned kit with unusual breadth — charts, realtime, browser-native PDF, 44 locales (incl. RTL + Indic scripts), and headless hooks under one semver. (Dedicated PDF libraries like @react-pdf/renderer and PDFx do PDFs too — our claim is bundling, not uniqueness.)
  • Data-dense enterprise admin, free: Ant Design (mind its documented accessibility gaps). Commercial support and SLAs: MUI + MUI X.
  • Batteries-included and free with tiny deps: Mantine. Total code ownership on Tailwind: shadcn/ui. Audit-grade a11y primitives to style yourself: React Aria.
  • tekivex-ui when the trade favors what we uniquely have: India-market forms, a security/compliance posture you can hand to an auditor (threat model, SBOM, zero deps), or one kit covering charts + realtime + PDF + i18n without assembling five libraries — and you can accept a young project with a small community.

The long-form analysis, including the claims we decided we must not make about ourselves, lives in docs/COMPETITIVE-ANALYSIS.md.
